Gave up full time employment in
1986 to look after dad. Dad introduced me to dahlia growing, he was a keen grower in
the 1950's. I started off with about 100 plants and now
grow 400. All the plants are raised from cuttings in a controlled
environment growing
room specially constructed for the purpose. Temperature of
the bench is kept at 70F, air at 62 and humidity at 60%. The
14 hour daylength is provided by two 400 watt Mercury lamps, they
radiate enough heat to keep the room at the required temperature
without any additional heat.
