view across Loch Venachar which is about two miles from the little
village of Callander "The Gateway to the Trossachs"
some 12 or so miles from Stirling. Callander acts as host
to the World Highland Games and has an international reputation
amongst the world's athletes. The games are usually held at the
end of July. The kind of events that take place include an International
Field of Top Athletes, Viking Log Pull, Battering Ram Race, Highland
Dancing Competitions and Display, Pole Push, Hill Race, Pipe Bands
and a display by the Territorial Army not to mention a freefall
parachute display team.
